In their own words:

“My work as an apprentice Healthcare Assistant during the Covid-19 pandemic has sometimes been challenging but has also been very rewarding. I started work as an apprentice when I was sixteen and with my 18th Birthday a week before lockdown, for me teamwork has been essential. I have learnt so much to take forward in my career as a healthcare professional.”

Healthcare Assistant
South West England

Quote from nomination:

“In the Autumn of 2019, my 17 year-old niece, Lily became an apprentice Healthcare Assistant in Exeter. From day one it has been very interactive on the wards and Lily has really enjoyed it and learnt so much.
“Lily turned 18 in March, just before lockdown and has stepped up as the caring kind, professional, young lady we know, and has worked on the Covid-19 wards looking after patients at the most difficult time in their lives, in full PPE.
“Her ambition is to eventually become a paramedic. I am so proud of her at this young age that she has faced new challenges head on.”
